INTERNATIONAL: U.S. President Joe Biden said he was "doing well" in a video released by the White House Thursday 21st July after he tested positive for COVID.

In the 21-second clip, he also added he was "getting a lot of work done" and would continue with his duties.

“Hey folks, guess you heard, this morning I tested positive for COVID. But I’ve been double vaccinated, double boosted. Symptoms are mild. And I really appreciate your inquiries and your concerns. But I'm doing well, getting a lot of work done. Going to continue to get it done. And in the meantime, thanks for your concern. And keep the faith. It's going to be okay."

Biden, 79, has a runny nose, fatigue and an occasional dry cough, symptoms which he began to experience late on Wednesday, White House physician Kevin O'Connor said in a note released on Thursday. Biden has begun taking the antiviral treatment Paxlovid, O'Connor said.

The White House will provide a daily update on Biden's health, and he will follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and isolate at the White House while continuing to work, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.

U.S. First Lady Dr. Jill Biden said she has so far tested negative for COVID after her husband, President Joe Biden tested positive. The president is “doing fine, he’s feeling good”, she told reporters.

Experts like Dr. Citronberg worry about COVID-19's lasting impact, particularly with older Americans.

"The older you are, the more likely you are to have chronic illnesses that can complicate the effects of COVID," said Dr. Citronberg. "That (COVID-19) can certainly be a problem, especially an older people, things like brain fog, difficulty concentrating and a whole host of other complications that can occur down the line from COVID."

RT News reported, US President Joe Biden announced to the press on Wednesday that he has cancer, although it is unclear whether he misspoke. Speaking at an event on climate change in Massachusetts, the president claimed that pollution in his home state of Delaware caused his illness.

“You had to put on your windshield wipers to get, literally, the oil slick off the window,” Biden said of the pollution near his childhood home, before adding “that’s why I and so damn many other people I grew up with have cancer.”

Washington moved quickly to play down another apparent blunder at the mic by Joe Biden - explaining that the president was referring to a diagnosis before he took office.

WH spox Andrew Bates confirmed non-melanoma skin cancers were removed and remedied.

"That's why I and so damn many other people I grew up with have cancer," Biden said when referring to pollution and climate change.
